OUR HISTORY

On April, 2020 an agreement was signed by the Director-General of UNESCO and the President of Ain Shams University, Egypt for establishment of a UNESCO Chair in Bioethics at Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Cairo.

 OUR GOAL

The goal of the chair is to facilitate collaboration between high-level, internationally-recognized researchers and teaching staff from the universities and other institutions in Egypt, as well as elsewhere in the Arab region.

 EXPANDING GOAL

* Create a community of bioethicists in Egypt to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experiences and good practices.
* Design and implement activities aimed at increasing public awareness of human and patient rights.
* Cooperate closely with UNESCO and other UNESCO Chairs on relevant programs and activities

SPECIFIED OBJECTIVES OF THIS CHAIR ARE TO:

Poster the establishment of a national network of bioethics units in Egyptian universities
Increase awareness among healthcare providers and researchers of the principles of bioethics and the necessary codes of practice.
