Prof. Ashraf Abdel Aaty Mohamed
Biography
In 2008, I was appointed Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University (ASU). During 2014-2016, I served as director of the studies and consultation center, and during 2016-2019, I was vice-dean for community service and environmental affairs, reflecting a deep commitment to institutional growth and societal impact. My current research focuses on advanced functional materials, including carbon-based nanomaterials, molecularly imprinted polymers, and layered double hydroxides, with applications in water treatment and digital imaging-based sensors. This work has yielded 87 Scopus-indexed publications, including 16 reviews and 5 book chapters with major publishers (Elsevier, RSC, Springer-Nature), and has garnered significant international recognition. My Scopus H-index is 30 (3,640 citations), while my Google Scholar metrics are H-index 33 and i10-index 61 (4,288 citations). A SciVal Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI, 2020-2026) of 3.92 places my output far above the global average, with 56% of publications in the top 10% citation percentiles journals worldwide, a testament to rigorous methodology and high editorial standards. This scholarly impact has been acknowledged by my inclusion in the 2009 edition of Marquis Who’s Who in Science and, more recently, by global rankings: the Ioannidis–Elsevier list (top 2%, 2025), the Alper–Döger Scientific Index (top 3%), the SCiRank Global (Top 5%, 2025), and ScholarGPS, which ranks my work in 2025 in the top 0.08% and 0.23% globally for graphene oxide and chemistry research. In June-2022, I was honored with the ASU Award of Excellence in Advanced Technological Sciences. Currently, I serve as General Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities’ 2045 Promotion Committee and as a member of the Nuclear Materials Authority Promotion Committee. I also contribute to the scientific community as Editor of Green Processing and Synthesis and an Editorial Board member for Discover Catalysis.
