Mirham Mohamed Hosni Anwar Qalaj


Biography


Merham holds an MSc degree from Ain Shams University and works as a lecturer assistant at Urban Design and planning Department at the same university. She had been a PhD fellow at Oxford Brookes University for two years (2018 & 2019), as part of her PhD study looking into the potentials of Placemaking and Green Infrastructure in Cairo, Egypt. Merham has several publications focusing on the relation between the urban settings and people’s perceptions in Cairo, Egypt. She had been an assistant editor for a special issue in the Journal of Public Spaces. Merham believes in the importance of the teaching atmosphere as a crucial cornerstone for successful delivery of the scientific materials. Hence, she strives to provide an interactive and engaging experience for the students as a means for better educational quality. Merham was elected as a trustee at Landscape Research Group (LRG) since November 2021 till now. She pursued this position for her passion about propagating and promoting Landscape Research in Egypt and the Arab Region generally. In addition, she has been advocating for the importance of public spaces and is now among the Public Space Advisory Board (Early Career) - City Space Architecture. Merham, also believes in the importance of volunteer work and she is part of the academic team in ‘Shagret Betna’ initiative incubated by the British Council Think Tank.
