Crisis and Disaster Unit

  • The Crisis and Disaster Management Unit is one of the college's most important security and safety requirements. As the world's technological advancements increase, so does the risk individuals face as a result of human-made events. Therefore, we must be vigilant in confronting these risks and be prepared to deal with any potential crises and disasters
  •  On this basis, a Crisis and Disaster Management Unit was established at the college to play an effective role and assume responsibilities before, during and after a crisis occurs through its role in preparing various workshops and seminars that aim to raise awareness of how to manage crises and disasters.

  Mission of the Crisis and Disaster Unit

  • To enhance the capacity of all college personnel to ensure a secure work environment and mitigate the risks and negative impacts of crises and disasters through training and preventive programs.

Strategic Objectives of the Unit

General Objective:

  • * Achieving security and safety standards and protecting lives and property.

Specific Objectives:

  • Developing cultural awareness among the college community regarding crisis and disaster management.
  • Providing training opportunities on how to deal with crises and disasters.
  • Disseminating the culture of crisis management and educating and training college staff on how to deal with them should they occur.
  • Facilitating college work mechanisms to ensure that incidents and crises do not occur.
  •  Providing security and safety for the college's human resources (faculty members, students, employees, and workers).
  •  Providing work requirements and removing security and safety obstacles.
  •  Training the necessary human resources to handle crises.
  •  Planning preventative measures to secure college facilities and individuals against fires, disasters, and crises.
  •  Achieving security and safety standards.
  •  Predicting potential crises on campus and identifying mechanisms for their prevention.
  •  Study periodic reports that address crises and disasters, ways to overcome them, and how to benefit from them.

Job Description for Unit Staff:

Dean of the College:

He is the chair of the unit's board of directors, in accordance with the responsibilities specified by the university. Also he approves the unit's annual composition and presents it to the College Council for approval. He also approves the unit's activity minutes.

Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development:

He is the Vice Chairman of the Unit's Board of Directors, in accordance with the responsibilities specified by the university regarding the work of the Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development. He develops the Unit's annual structure and presents it to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, who will then present it to the College Council for approval. He also invites members to attend monthly meetings to determine the Unit's work and activities and the responsibilities of each member. As well as following up on the progress of work and taking the necessary decisions in accordance with the reports submitted by the unit manager and members.

Unit Director:

The director is selected from among the college's faculty members. He or she is responsible for managing the unit's affairs and technical matters within the framework of the policies and decisions of the Board of Directors. In particular, he or she is responsible for the following responsibilities:

1. Supervising the unit's workflow.

2. Implementing the Board's decisions and submitting reports to the College's Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

3. Preparing the annual plan for the unit's activities.

4. Preparing the annual report on the unit's activities and periodic reports on the progress of work.

5. Proposing the assistance of experienced personnel to carry out certain tasks within the unit's jurisdiction.

6. Proposing amendments to certain provisions of the bylaws to ensure the best possible performance of the unit..

Unit Secretary:

Selected by the college administrators to record meeting minutes, correspond with members, and perform other administrative tasks assigned to him

Unit Members:

Nine faculty members are selected to the Unit Board of Directors based on departmental nominations. They are responsible for developing and implementing technical activities related to disaster and crisis management, in addition to an external member and the college's maintenance officer.

College Secretary:

The College Secretary is a permanent member of the committee, in accordance with their role. They facilitate the unit's work and monitor the performance of other college departments in implementing and adhering to the committee's instructions and guidelines.

Security and Safety Officer:

The college's Security and Safety Officer is a permanent member of the unit, in accordance with their role. They oversee all security and safety activities at the college and chair the emergency plan implementation team.

Maintenance Officer:

The college's Maintenance Officer is a permanent member of the unit, in accordance with their role. They develop a maintenance plan for all college equipment, ensure their safety, and monitor the implementation of maintenance items and maintenance. Submit reports to the committee on the college's maintenance status.
