The unit was established by a decision of the President of Ain Shams University on August 15, 2007. It is considered one of the most important units in the college. It is responsible for introducing and developing all modern technological means in the field of information and communications and adapting them to serve the goals of the college in the administrative, financial, academic and local community fields, and linking the college to the latest sources of electronic technology. This unit is managed and participated in by several nursing leaders from within the college, headed by the Dean of the College and the Director of the Unit to follow up on the implementation of general policies.


Vision:

The unit seeks to be a leading unit in the field of information technology, continuous improvement, and excellence in university performance, with the goal of achieving quality in all aspects.

Mission:

Continuously improving educational performance, e-learning, scientific research, and community service using the latest effective education strategies.

Disseminating the culture of information technology and excellence among various stakeholders inside and outside the college.

The Information Technology Unit aims to activate information technology services at the college level to serve the educational process, faculty members, students, and staff. The unit performs the following tasks in coordination with the university's central projects:

.Using information technology in all aspects that serve the educational process and scientific research.

Training college staff and faculty members on information and communications technology through the University Training Center.

. Conducting statistics and scientific research courses for graduate students.

Unit Development Plan:

  • Contributing to the enhancement of faculty members’ and their assistants’ competencies through the use of modern technology and information systems.

  • Preparing students to use information technology in education and equipping them with computer skills.

  • Providing services related to medical information for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as faculty members, through educational media such as instructional CDs, videos, books, booklets, and statistical services.

  • Developing the information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure within the faculty.

  • Supporting quality assurance efforts within the faculty.

  • Collaborating with IT units and the Scientific Computing Center at the university.

  • Contributing to the establishment of an internal network and the automation of the faculty’s various administrative departments, units, and divisions.

  • Upgrading and modernizing the computer lab, IT club, and language laboratory.

  • Supporting the development and modernization of curricula and educational systems to meet the needs of producing competitive, distinguished graduates.

  • Providing consultations, electronic solutions, and technical studies related to various faculty activities.

  • Assisting in updating the faculty's website.

  • Assisting faculty members and researchers in using and managing databases, as well as in publishing and reproducing research and theses.

  • Contributing to the preparation and organization of scientific meetings and conferences.

  • Providing specialized services and consultations related to computers.

  • Supporting the activation of the MIS (Management Information System) project within the faculty and the university.

  • Assisting in activating email services within the faculty and the university.

  • Human development courses.

  • Courses in the fundamentals of statistics.

  • Courses in the basics of scientific research.

  • Courses on how to write a research protocol.

  • Courses on how to write theses and scientific papers.
