Sector Overview

The Education and Student Affairs Sector at the Faculty of Nursing, Ain Shams University is specialized in providing the community with a graduate with skills consistent with international standards to revive Egypt's role in regional and global leadership, which stems from a long-term Egyptian vision for 2030 that would help serve the community and achieve Sustainable Comprehensive Development.

The Education and Student Affairs Sector includes the supervision and implementation of academic educational programs at the highest level of quality for undergraduate students and related practical training (whether within the faculty laboratories or specialized health facilities), as well as periodic and quarterly examinations. In addition to the sector's responsibility to rehabilitate undergraduate students socially, culturally, athletically and artistically through the youth welfare sector in order to build an integrated personality for faculty graduates. The Education and Student Affairs Sector is also concerned with caring for students who are unable through the Social Solidarity Department, as well as caring for talented and distinguished students by facilitating their participation in the activities of the faculty innovation unit and through their participation in various competitions and providing the necessary material and moral support.

The Education and Student Affairs Sector is concerned with developing a sense of patriotism among college students by holding various cultural seminars from specialists, as well as facilitating the procedures for students to perform national duty through coordination with the university's military liaison department. The sector is also specialized in following up the affairs of expatriate students and working to overcome all difficulties to enable them to achieve their academic goals, and the activity of the education and students sector does not stop at this limit, but extends to provide services to graduates through the Alumni Department and the Ain Shams University Alumni Association to link graduates with their mother university for life.

Studying at the Faculty of Nursing is a four-year practical study followed by a compulsory internship year, after which the university, based on the decision of the Faculty Council, grants the graduate a bachelor's degree in nursing sciences. The college enrolls a student with a high school science degree, and students with the following qualifications may be admitted to the college:

  • A university qualification (high school / science division) from one of the Egyptian universities or institutes, and students are admitted to the first division in a percentage not exceeding 5% of the accepted number, provided that they obtain at least a good grade.
  • Diploma holders of technical institutes of nursing (nursing division), provided that the qualification is recent and obtaining a minimum total of 75% of the total diploma grades, and students are admitted to the second year and a percentage not exceeding 10% of the number enrolled in the second year, subject to compliance with the regulations for students of technical institutes by the Supreme Council of Universities. It is also required to devote full time to study and pass the medical examination.
  • The student performs the compulsory training year under the supervision of the Faculty of Nursing, where it starts from the first of September of each year for students who succeed in the first round exams and on the first of December for students who succeed in the second round exams (default), and students are trained in Ain Shams University hospitals and hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health and other hospitals, and passing the training year is a prerequisite for graduation and obtaining a license to practice the profession from the Ministry of Health.
