About the department
The Department of Psychiatric and Mental Health offers high-quality education and research for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs to serve the community's needs and supporting students' professionalism with knowledge, and skills that prepare them to improve the level of mental health of patients, families, and communities. The psychiatric mental health nursing department is equipped with highly qualified staff experts that help the students to promote their academics, professional experience and research to qualify them to face the work labor in the field of psychiatric nursing and mental health.
The Department provides the following subjects:
- Psychiatric nursing and mental health for undergraduate students (fourth year)
- Master program in psychiatric nursing and mental health.
- Doctorate program in psychiatric nursing and mental health

Mission
The Department of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing at Ain Shams University is committed with supporting the quality of education and training based on the comprehensive evaluation of human behavior from adverse perspective for enhancement the students’ mental health and that through educational program and the student will be able to provide the psychological care at the hospitals and the community in addition to communication skills, decision making, abstract thinking, leadership skills and give students chance to carry out innovative scientific researches.
