For the first time: Made in Ain Shams University – Industry Day

As part of the activities organized by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, and under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, an awareness session was held to introduce the vision and objectives of the GEMS-TECH Project,

titled “Green Maritime Horizons: Collaborative Innovation in Ship Engineering and Sustainable Technologies,”

funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

This day was attended by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Environmental Affairs and Community Services, Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Amr Shaat, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Prof. Neveen Asem, CEO of the Innovation and Training Sector and ASU project coordinator.

The session, moderated by Prof. Waleed El-Khattam – Co-PI of the project, Professor of Renewable Energy, and Dean of the Faculty of Industry and Energy Technology at New Cairo Technological University – explored:

How university–industry collaboration drives sustainable innovation

The GEMS-TECH Project focuses on:

• Updating curricula to integrate green maritime technologies

• Establishing cutting-edge laboratories (VR/AR, 3D printing, laser cutting)

• Offering free training programs for students and faculty through the Training and Development Center

The session received excellent feedback from students, faculty members, and industry representatives — all inspired by the project’s mission to support the transition toward a green and sustainable economy.
