هيثم السيد محمد قنديل
نبذه عن
Dr. Haytham A. Qandeil is an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) of Greek and Roman History at the Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University, Cairo. With over a decade of academic experience, he specializes in the political, administrative, and social history of Hellenistic and Roman Egypt, with a particular focus on papyrology and administrative institutions during the Ptolemaic period. He received his Ph.D. with First Class Honours and a recommendation for international academic exchange. His doctoral dissertation, The Role of the Epimeletes in the Ptolemaic Administration, was published in 2024 by Brill|Schöningh as part of the prestigious Papyrologica Coloniensia series. Dr. Qandeil has held research affiliations with the Institut für Altertumskunde at the University of Cologne and has participated in advanced training programs and academic residencies in Germany, France, Italy, and the United States. He has taught a wide array of undergraduate and postgraduate courses on ancient history, Greek and Roman civilization, Ptolemaic administration, and research methodology. He has also contributed significantly to academic training in digital papyrology and historical source analysis. His scholarly output includes monographs, critical editions, Arabic translations of classical scholarship, and numerous peer-reviewed articles in international journals such as Zeitschrift für Papyrologie und Epigraphik, Bulletin of the American Society of Papyrologists, and IWNW Journal. He has received multiple academic honors, including the Egyptian Association for Historical Studies' awards for Best Ph.D. Dissertation and Best M.A. Thesis. In addition to his academic writing, Dr. Qandeil has been an active contributor to international conferences, archaeological excavations in the Fayyum region, and workshops on papyrology and digital humanities. He is a member of several scholarly associations including the Association Internationale de Papyrologues (AIP), the American Society of Papyrologists (ASP), and the International Society for Arabic Papyrology (ISAP). Through his research, teaching, and scholarly service, Dr. Qandeil seeks to bridge Egyptian and international perspectives in the study of antiquity, making primary sources from Egypt’s Hellenistic and Roman past more accessible to scholars and students worldwide.
