Biography: Dr. Angie Reda Abdelhay Mohamed Aly El-Damak ORCID: 0000-0002-9088-7578 Google Scholar | Scopus | ResearchGate | LinkedIn Dr. Angie R. El-Damak is an Associate Professor of Electronics and Communications Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. She is an accomplished academic and researcher with more than 20 years of experience in higher education, combining strong technical expertise with leadership in academic development, international cooperation, and innovation-driven research. Academic Background Dr. El-Damak earned her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Ain Shams University. She completed her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), Canada, where her research focused on advanced electromagnetic and photonics systems. Her academic career progressed from Demonstrator to Assistant Professor, and she was promoted to Associate Professor in recognition of her research productivity and academic contributions. Research Expertise and Interests Dr. El-Damak’s research is interdisciplinary, bridging theory and application in advanced electromagnetic systems. Her main research interests include: Antenna design, modeling, and measurements Microwave engineering and electromagnetic sensing Microwave biosensors and wearable biomedical devices Non-invasive medical diagnostics Microwave components and systems Fiber lasers, photonics, and optical sensing Engineering education and curriculum development Her work places particular emphasis on real-world applications, especially in healthcare technologies and smart sensing systems. Publications and Scholarly Impact Dr. El-Damak has authored and co-authored a substantial number of peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers, indexed in Scopus and Google Scholar, with publications in high-impact venues such as IEEE Access, Progress in Electromagnetics Research, and leading IEEE conferences. Her research contributions include innovative designs for wearable microwave sensors, biosensing antennas, and AI-assisted diagnostic systems, reflecting a strong international research footprint and growing citation impact. Awards and International Experience During her doctoral and postdoctoral research, Dr. El-Damak received several competitive awards and scholarships, including: Ontario Graduate Scholarship (Canada) Toronto Metropolitan University Graduate and Research Awards European Microwave Association scholarships National postgraduate excellence awards from Egypt She has actively participated in international research collaboration, contributing to joint publications and global academic exchange.
