Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, witnessed the meeting of the cooperation agreement in the fields of research and education between Ain Shams University represented by the Faculty of Business, the American University of Chicago and Sawiris Foundation, which was signed earlier and according to which scholarships are offered to students of the Faculty of Business at the university to study at the University of Chicago For a full year in the field of finance and economics, which may extend to the postgraduate stage.

Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Khaled Kadri, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Prof. Dr. Haiam Wahba, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business for Graduate Studies and Research and Coordinator of the Agreement, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shaheen, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business for Education and Student Affairs and Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector, Ms. Heba Iskandar, Director of Development and Development at Orascom, Engineer Nora Selim, Executive Director of the Sawiris Foundation, and Ms. Mais Abu Hijab, Director of the Education and Scholarships Sector at Sawiris Foundation, in addition to the new batch of students, scheduled to travel to complete their studies abroad in accordance with the agreement, participate in the meeting.

         
   
         

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, offers his sincere condolences to the Sawiris family on the death of businessman Onsi Sawiris, founder and president of Orascom Group, praising the fruitful and lasting cooperation between the university and the Sawiris Foundation, praising the group’s role in supporting education and training within the fields of charitable work that it undertakes.

Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, said that Ain Shams University spares no effort in supporting its students and providing all that contributes to providing a graduate at the highest level of science and efficiency in line with the requirements of the labor market.

In his speech, Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, thanked those in charge of this agreement, calling on the Sawiris Foundation to extend support in the fields of education to the postgraduate levels.

On his part, Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, said that Ain Shams University welcomes cooperation with the Sawiris Foundation in all areas of charitable volunteer work.

Where the university participates in the initiative of a decent life adopted by the Egyptian state to extend a helping hand to nearly 51 of the poorest cities at the level of the Republic.

         
   
         

The university conducts medical convoys for these places, in addition to several developments, awareness and literacy convoys.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Khaled Kadri, Dean of the Faculty of Business, said that the previous three years, the age of signing the agreement, witnessed successes that testify to it, praising the role played by Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, in reaching this agreement.

He added that the college is in constant contact with the students who traveled to complete their studies abroad within the signing of the agreement, noting that they transfer their experiences to their colleagues.

Also, Prof. Dr. Hiam Wahba, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs and coordinator of the agreement, indicated that this agreement is the first experience of its kind at the Faculty of Business, and this is the result of permanent work and full support through the administration of the university and the faculty and the Sawiris Foundation, in addition to the important role of Dr. Dina Rashid, Vice Dean at the University of Chicago in the success of this agreement.

Prof. Dr. Haiam Wehba said that the first batch of the scholarship witnessed the travel of 4 college students in the third year in the credit hours stage in the English language to obtain this scholarship and travel to complete their fourth-year studies at the University of Chicago.

         
   
         

She also confirmed the mechanism for selecting students, which has been announced to all students since the beginning of the scholarship, where the top students are selected according to the cumulative average and an introductory meeting is held for them with the terms and requirements, and through a set of tests and personal interviews, and they pass the language requirement required to study at the University of Chicago, the winning students are selected in a competition She is strong, noting that the new batch includes 6 students.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shaheen, Vice Dean of the College of Business for Education and Student Affairs wished a promising future for the participating students, and thanks those in charge of this agreement.

In her speech, Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector praised the mission adopted by the organizers of this agreement, which aims to provide a graduate with the highest level of scientific competence, in addition to providing him with life experiences through exposure to different cultures, which will enrich his personality, stressing that the presence of distinguished cadres It represents an addition to the Egyptian state.

Mrs. Heba Iskandar, Director of Development and Development at Orascom, expressed her gratitude for the continuous support and fruitful cooperation with Ain Shams University, where the university is under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini removed all obstacles in front of students in order to ensure that they get the best experiences by completing their studies at the University of Chicago, a program supported by Professor Nassef Sawiris and the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development.

Ms. Heba also expressed her happiness and pride for the students who received various scholarships supported by Mr. Nassef Sawiris.

Engineer Nora Selim, Executive Director of the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, confirmed the Foundation's keenness to cooperate with prestigious educational institutions such as Ain Shams University, noting that the continuation of this cooperation comes as a result of the convergence of the goals of all partner parties, and emphasizes the effective role of partnerships between the public and private sectors and civil society institutions.

She also expressed her pride in this cooperation because of its tangible results in the lives of distinguished Egyptian students, as over the course of 13 years we have been able to support 85 outstanding Egyptian undergraduate students to obtain a fully funded one-year scholarship at the University of Chicago.

     
 
     

Ms. Mais Abu Hegab, Director of the Education and Scholarships Sector at Sawiris Foundation, said that investing in education and people is one of the most important activities of the Foundation, as the Foundation believes in the importance of providing high-quality educational opportunities for Egyptian youth to enable them to obtain high-quality job opportunities in Egypt.

At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, called the students who traveled and benefited from the grant to transfer their experiences to their colleagues to expand the base of beneficiaries, and he also listened to the new batch of students who are scheduled to travel to complete their studies abroad in accordance with the agreement.
