Blood donation campaign at Ain Shams University

A blood donation campaign was held on the campus of Ain Shams University in conjunction with the opening of the charity exhibition in front of Al-Zaafran palace under the supervision of Ain Shams Specialized Hospital. The campaign is organized under the auspices of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector headed by Prof. Dr. Nazmi Abdel Hamid, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development ; And Mr. Samir Abdel Nasser, Secretary General of Ain Shams University.

In the same context, Professor Wafa Abdel kader, secretary of the blood bank at Ain Shams Specialized Hospital, explained that blood bags are used for liver transplant patients and oncology patients, adding that blood pressure and hemoglobin are measured before the blood is withdrawn to ensure that no harm is done.

She confirmed that the age of the donor should not be less than 18 years, and concluded that after the blood was withdrawn from the donor is sent to the hospital for the necessary tests within 24 hours, If any blood is found, the bag is immediately put out.

She pointed out that reports will be sent to the names of donors to the university so that the donor can know the results of tests in addition to know the type of blood type.

This campaign is not the first of its kind, but is part of a series of campaigns carried out by Ain Shams Specialized Hospital in order to provide blood in a quantity that meets the needs of patients.
