Adeeb Ghonaimy

Mohamed Adib Riad Ghoneimy is one of the pioneers of computer science in Egypt.

He was born on December 28, 1936, in Mait Ghamr, Dakahlia Governorate. He received his BA in Engineering in 1958, from Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, and a Master in Computer Engineering and Control 1961 and a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering 1965 from the Toronto University, Canada.

Ghonaimy was appointed as a lecturer at Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University in 1985, and is a member of the Faculty of Engineering until 1977.

He has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology from 1980-1981 and Member of the National Advisory Committee for Information Systems since 1985. He was member of the advisory board of October Computer magazine since 1986.

He also submitted 44 papers published in local and scientific journals.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ghonaimy contributed to the development of a general framework for a national information systems policy that serves the strategic objectives of the Egyptian society, such as Egypt at the Kyoto International Conference on Automation, 1981, and the Conference on Microelectronics and Special Education in Africa, Berlin-West Germany, 1986.

Ghonaimy was awarded the Excellent Research Award from Ain Shams University in 1975 and received the State Award for Engineering Sciences 1998.
